FRANÇOIS-SÉRAPHIN DELPECH

     Nous donnerons ultérieurement une notice plus développée sur François-Séraphin Delpech (1778-1825). Cet artiste célèbre en son temps a donné en 1820 un album de lithographies, Costumes civils et militaire de la monarchie française depuis 1200 jusqu’à 1820, qui contient quatre œuvres intéressant lhistoire d’Étampes. Ce sont des portraits de quatre de ses seigneurs et dames: Philippe le Bon (vers 1390), Marguerite d’Étampes (vers 1446), Gaston de Foix (mort en 1512) et Anne de Pisseleu (vers 1520).
     Il est vraisemblable que l’artiste s’est appuyé, pour chacune de ces
œuvres, sur une documentation sûre, en ce qui concerne les costumes de ces personnages.
     En attendant plus de données sur Delpech et sur ses sources iconographiques, on peut consulter la bibliographie ci-dessous, qui par elle-même donne un bon ordre d’idée de sa carrière et de son style, puisque beaucoup de ses lithographies sont en ligne.
GASTON DE FOIX

     Nous donnerons aussi ultérieurement une notice sur ce comte d’Étampes, qui tint le duché de 1500 à 1512. Voici ce quen écrit Fleureau dans ses Antiquitez, p. 284:

     Au mois d’Avril de l’année suivante
[donc en 1478], le Roy Louis XI. mit hors sa main ce Comté, & le donna à
     Jean Comte de Foix, Vicomte de Narbonne, qui prit aussi le titre de Roy de Navarre, à le tenir de la Couronne en foy, & infeodation perpetuelle, pour luy, & ses enfans mâles, & femelles, nez, & à naître, mort en 1500. 
     Gaston fils de Jean, fut Comte d’Estampes, après la mort de son Pere. Il s’est fait connoître dans les guerres d’Italie sous le nom de Duc de Nemours: il fut tué à la bataille de Ravennes, le onziéme d’Avril 1512. & par sa mort le Comté d’Estampes fut encore réüni à la Couronne: Mais le Roy Louis XII. l’en separa dés le mois suivant, & le donna à
[p.285] 
     Anne de Bretagne, Reine de France, sa femme, etc.
